Alfonso Gutierrez

Originally from Spain and now based in Philadelphia, Alfonso Gutierrez is a dedicated cellist and educator committed to helping students of all ages grow as musicians. Alfonso began playing the cello at the age of three and has since developed a deep appreciation for both the art of performance and the craft of teaching. He holds a Bachelor of Music from DePaul University and a Master of Music from Temple University, where he studied with Brant Taylor and John Koen. Currently pursuing his Doctor of Musical Arts (DMA) at Temple University, Alfonso combines his academic expertise with a hands-on, student-centered teaching style. Since 2020, he has taught private lessons and coached ensembles, helping students build strong technical foundations while encouraging creativity and confidence. His performance experience includes appearances at The Kimmel Center, Symphony Center in Chicago, and Jazz at Lincoln Center in New York, as well as masterclasses with Stephen Balderston, Walter Gray, and Gethyn Jones. Whether working with beginners or advanced players, Alfonso aims to create a supportive, engaging environment where every student can find their own voice through music.

Esmeralda Lastra Cortes

Miss Esmeralda is teacher, singer, violinist, dancer, and artist specializing in mariachi music. She is currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Music Education at Temple University and has experience teaching students with special needs. When she is not teaching, Esmeralda provides musical services for weddings, quinceañeras, masses, and special events, fostering meaningful connections through education, joy, and shared artistic experiences. Her work promotes culture, compassion, community engagement, and emotional well-being through arts-based advocacy, bilingual music education, and performance.

Alexander Covelli

Violinist Alexander Covelli has performed nationally in major venues, such as the Kimmel Center and Jazz at Lincoln Center, and in festivals such as the National Music Festival, Southwest Chamber Music Festival, Dalí Quartet International Music Festival, and Techne Music. He has also traveled internationally for festivals, performances, and masterclasses as a part of Virtuoso & Belcanto, Klassik I Sentrum, and the Orvieto Festival of Strings. Covelli enjoys performing as a recitalist, chamber musician, and orchestral player, having performed in the Pennsylvania Philharmonic and Pennsylvania Sinfonia Orchestra. He is currently a member of the ArCoNet Camerata and substitute violinist for Symphony in C.

Emma Lokmer

Emma Lokmer, born in Croatia, started her music education at an early age with a focus on classical piano and music theory. She graduated from Boyer College of Music and Dance in Philadelphia with both Bachelor's degree in music theory and piano concentration and Master’s degree in Music Theory where she studied under the guidance of acclaimed pianists. During her graduate studies, Lokmer served as Teaching Assistant for music studies department at Temple University. In addition, Emma got awarded with Frances G. Lumsden Memorial Scholarship and Dr. B Stimson Carrow Tribute Award for the outstanding pedagogical and performance ability during her studies. She actively teaches piano to students of all ages and levels in the Philadelphia area.

Emma is an aspiring orchestral conductor and currently holds position as Orchestra Conducting Apprentice with Philadelphia Ballet. While studying conducting under the guidance of Jose Luis Dominguez and Patricia Cornett, she obtained the role of assistant conductor for Temple University Symphony Orchestra and had the opportunity to conduct other university’s instrumental ensembles, including Temple University Repertory Orchestra, and Owlchestra. She has also had the privilege to refine her conducting skills by being guest conductor for youth orchestras in Philadelphia and assistant conductor at National Music Festival. Emma has been performing at masterclasses, including ones with the Belgrade Philharmonic and the North Texas Wind Symphony. She received the Respighi Prize in Conducting at Conducting Workshop and Competition with Chamber Orchestra of New York.
